Valle de los Elfos
Alicia (Alice) viv?a (live) en (in) una peque?a casa ( small house) en (on) las afueras ( outskirts) del (of) pueblo ( village).
Aunque (although) sus (her) padres (parent..) trabajaban (work) en (in) el campo ( field) desde (from) la ma?ana (morning) hasta (till) la noche (night), llevaban (they lead*/ led/ led) vidas modestas y pobres (modest and poor lifes).
Ciertamente (certainly), cmo (how) es posible (-) hacerse (toget) ricos (rich) en (in) tales circunstancias (such circumstances).
Fuertes huracanes (strong hurricanes) amenudo (often) ocurr?an (happen) all? (there), estropeaban (they spoil..) y (and) destru?an (destroy) los cultivos ( crops).
Y un d?a (one day), cuando (when) los padres (father and mother) se hab?an ido (go*/ went/ gone) a(to) trabajar (work),
nubes oscuras (heavy clouds) cubrieron (brood.. over) la casa ( house), centellearon relmpagos (lightning flash..), comenz un fuerte granizo ( strong hail start..) y luego (then) estall el viento ( wind brake* out/ broke/ broken).
Era (it be*/ was, were/ been) de (of) tal fuerza (such aforce) que (that) comenz (begin*/ began/ begun) a(to) demoler (demolish) todos los (all the) edificios (building..) asu alrededor (around), a(to) convertir en astillas los barcos (smash the boats into pieces) en (at) el muelle local ( local marina).
Alicia estaba (be*) muy (very) asustada (scared), se subi (climb) a(onto) la cama ( bed) y se cubri de cabeza con la manta (pull.. cover over her head).
De esa manera (that way) hab?a sentado (she sit..) hasta que (until) sinti (she feel*/ felt/ felt) que (that) la casa se despeg (be* got off the ground/ was, were/ been) y estaba llevandose (carry) en una direccin desconocida (inan unknown direction).
La ni?a ( girl) corri (run* up/ ran/ run) a(to) la ventana ( window) y mir (look) hacia abajo (down): ya hab?an sobrevolado atravs de (they already pass..) su pueblo natal (native village), un lago ( lake), las monta?as ( mountains), alguna (some) ciudad (city).
Y entonces (then) todo (everything) comenz agirar (begin* tospin/ began/ begun) y desapareci (disappear) ante sus ojos (before her eyes).
Cuando (when) Alicia se despert (wake* up/ woke/ woken), se dio cuenta de (she realize..) que la casa no volaba (not fly..) aning?n lado (anywhere).
Se levant (get* up/ got/ got) y mir por (looked out of) la ventana ( window).
Frente aella (infront ofher) hab?a (there be*/ was, were) un csped soleado ( sunny lawn) salpicado (dotted) con (with) diferentes flores (different flower..).
Las mariposas ( butterfly..) volaban (fly) y los pjaros ( bird..) cantaban (sing) all? (there), as? que (so) la ni?a ( girl) sali de (leave*/ left/ left) la casa ( house) y fue (do*/ went/ gone) a(to) mirar asu alrededor (look around).
Camin (walk) un poco (alittle), recogi flores (pick.. flowers), trenz una guirnalda (twist.. awreath from them), se tumb (lie* down/ lay/ lain) en (on) la hierba ( grass),
admirando (admiring) el cielo azul sin nubes ( azure cloudless sky), pero (but) de repente (suddenly) por poco se desmay de tal sorpresa (her eyes become* round insurprise/ became/ become):
aproximadamente (about) aun metro (ameter away) de ella (-), 2.estaba flotando (hover) en el aire
